La Porte Hospital Achieves Joint Commission Re-Accreditation

La-Porte-Hospital-Achieves-Joint-Commission-Re-AccreditationLa Porte Hospital has earned the Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation from The Joint Commission, renewing the hospital’s accreditation for the next three years. The award demonstrates the hospital’s continuous compliance with high-quality performance standards, and reflects the organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective care to patients.

“Accreditation by The Joint Commission is a major accomplishment and speaks to the true nature of care and attention to detail provided by our staff and physicians,” said Ashley Dickinson, La Porte Hospital CEO. “The survey process is rigorous and intense; The Joint Commission reviews every aspect of hospital operations – from clinical care all the way through to how we manage our infection control and building processes. No stone goes unturned.”

For this accreditation process, surveyors noted particular areas where the hospital excelled, including the pharmacy’s quality improvement data analysis process and their Tech Med History Program that helps with medication reconciliation, as well as the emergency department’s commendation for having a storage system in place for safely securing oxygen tanks.

“The survey process is specifically designed to look for patterns. So, the Gold Seal of Approval shows that we have consistently demonstrated compliance and high-quality care over time. Best practices are engrained in what we do every day, and we are continuously looking for ways to improve by listening to our patients and reviewing our own performance through our quality program daily. I want to thank the staff and physicians for their dedication to providing excellent care, to every patient, every time,” Dickinson said.
