Youth Service Bureau Summer Program

Youth_Service_Bureau_Summer_Program-1---2016-05-25_14_47_08With summer right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about the Youth Service Bureau’s Summer Program. The YSB Summer Program is for students who are going into fourth, fifth or sixth grade. The youth will be learning life skills and character building while enjoying recreational activities, going on field trips around La Porte, going to a Chicago museum and Deep River Water Park, plus much much more.

“We have a great time every summer learning about our community and developing important life skills and character,” states Mrs. Alliegra Hand, YSB Summer Program Director. “YSB Summer Program provides a safe, fun place for the kids to enjoy their summer in our great community,” Mrs. Hand continues.

A youth from a previous year’s Summer Program stated, “I have learned about respect, self-respect, and the respect of others. I’ve learned about citizenship and being a good person, but most of all…I learned to be a true friend.” Another youth said, “I’ve learned to be helpful around your community, to listen to other people’s opinions, to be kind and trustworthy, to think before you speak, and to always give everybody a corn dog and be happy!” Mrs. Hand explained the corn dog comment is in reference to a lesson they did involving Kid President.

The Summer Program will start June 13 and is in session until July 20. It will take place at St. Paul’s Church Parish House in La Porte, on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The YSB Summer Program is FREE this summer because of a special donation from The Presbyterian Women of The La Porte Presbyterian Church.

Space is limited! Permission forms will be accepted until program is full. For more information and to sign your youth up, contact Mrs. Hand at 219-362-9587 extension 103.
