Arnold Adams Wins Heavyweight MMA Title in HFC27 at Blue Chip Casino

Area MMA fight fans packed into the Blue Chip Casino’s Stardust ballroom for another night of martial arts excitement, highlighted by the heavyweight MMA title matchup between 6’5”, 270 lbs Daniel James, and 6’3”, 265lbs Arnold Adams.

This was the 27th event by local promoter Hoosier Fight Club, and only the second to be held at the Blue Chip, with both fights playing to sold-out crowds. The main event was the heavyweight matchup between Danial James and Arnold Adams. This was the first-ever heavyweight title fight for HFC since its inception in 2009, and the excitement could not have been higher.

Scheduled as a 5-round, 5-minutes per round fight, Adams came out of the corner calm, pacing his opponent for a few moments, looking for an opportunity, saw one and pounced, scoring a very early KO against James and ending the fight less than a minute into the first round.

“I know some folks might have thought I came out here a little sleepy tonight,” said Adams as he accepted the heavyweight belt after the fight, “but when I wake up, other people go to sleep.”

Kevin Nowaczyk beat DeQuan Townsend via unanimous decision to take the co-main event. Bobby Williams faced off against Caleb Williams in a Featherweight contender fight, with Moffett placing Williams into an arm triangle, and forcing a submission.

Other winners at HFC27 were Gregg Turner via submission by Jacob Morales, Oscar Askar by unanimous decision against Brandon Emmons, Lance Wright over Michael Robinson by unanimous decision, LaQuinn Swift via verbal submission just 36 seconds into his fight with Andrew Moreno, Zachary Bartelheim won a split decision over Jordan Collins, Clark Jones won by way of unanimous decision, Sinatra Pool made quick work of Christopher Lee, winning by TKO just 23 seconds into their first round, Kyle Koontz TKO over Lenard Wheeler, Jonathan Appelman by unanimous decision over Jeffrey Cornell and Joshua Zimmer forced a submission by Steven Winston.
