Purdue University Northwest Sports Update, January 23, 2017

PNW-Mens-Hoops-Drops-Non-Conference-Contest-to-Grace-Bible-86-75 Men's Hoops Drops Non-Conference Contest to Grace Bible, 86-75 The Purdue University Northwest men’s basketball team dropped an 86-75 decision to Grace Bible College in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon.

The Pride (9-13) shot 45.7 percent from the field on the day, compared to 44.6 percent from the Tigers (13-9), but Grace Bible would outrebound the Black and Gold, 44-37.

Sophomore Chandler Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington) led the Pride’s offense with 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting, while connecting on six trifectas and tallying five assists.

Tyree Coe (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) chipped in 17 points, Tanner Kuehn (Munster, Ind./Munster) recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds while junior Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, lll./Chicago Hope Academy) picked up his 13th double-double of the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Senior Shereff Knights (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) would tally 10 assists along with eight points to round out the leaders for the Black and Gold.

Grace Bible jumped out to a 27-13 lead midway through the first half, but the Pride would fight back and cut its deficit to eight points, with the Tigers taking a 41-33 lead in to the half.

PNW started the second half on a run, getting within one point of the Tigers, and trailing 51-50 with just over 10 minutes remaining.

The Tigers would answer back and stop the Pride’s comeback efforts, answering any runs the Black and Gold had, and coming away with the 86-75 win over the Pride.

Grace Bible saw a pair of players record 20-plus points, with Austin Jackson leading all scorers with 23 points while brining down 11 rebounds and teammate Jared Bradford recording 22 points.

Purdue Northwest returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 25, when they travel to Whiting, Ind. for a CCAC contest with Calumet St. Joseph. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (CT).

Purdue Northwest, WJOB to Host Coaches Show Jan. 27 Purdue University Northwest Athletics, in coordination with Corporate Champions WJOB 1230AM and Buffalo Wild Wings of Hammond, will host its first-ever Coaches Show on Friday, Jan. 27.

The show, remotely broadcasted at Buffalo Wild Wings, will be hosted by Purdue Northwest Assistant Vice Chancellor of Media Relations and Communications Wes Lukoshus. The live program will be aired live on WJOB 1230 AM radio beginning at 5 p.m. CT, and will also be streamed on WJOB’s and Purdue Northwest Athletics’s Facebook page via Facebook Live.

The program will feature PNW basketball coaches Tom Megyesi (women’s basketball head coach) and Matt Bush (men’s basketball head coach) and PNW Athletic Director Rick Costello in addition to PNW student-athletes, and will segue-way into Lukoshus' regulary-scheduled Purdue Northwest Sports Insight program at 5:30 p.m., until concluding at 6.

Fans are welcome to attend the live show at Hammond’s new Buffalo Wild Wings, located at 2942 Carlson Drive, Hammond.
