La Lumiere Wins DICK’S Nationals Title in 2017

La Lumiere School’s Varsity White basketball team dominated the court in New York City on Saturday, April 1, to claim the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals championship title with a 70-52 victory over Montverde Academy (Fla.). DICK’S High School Nationals invites the top eight qualifying basketball teams in the country to compete in the tournament.

Senior Brian Bowen (a McDonald’s All American) led the Lakers with 15 points and seven rebounds, senior Jaren Jackson (a McDonald’s All American and Michigan State commit) contributed 17 points, senior Jordan Poole (a University of Michigan commit) put up 13 points, and sophomore Tyger Campbell had 10 points and seven assists.

The Lakers started their season at No. 1 in the USA Today High School Super 25 boys basketball rankings, they played a very successful regular season campaign with a 26-1 record, and today they find themselves back at No. 1 after their DICK’S Nationals championship win.
