Michigan City Makes History with Amazing Win Against Concord Minutemen

It was a night for history making Friday night as Michigan City took on their first ever Regional Football Championship game against Elkhart’s Concord Minutemen. Fans from both schools filled the stands, but Wolves fans came out in full force to cheer on their team, despite the travel required and time zone difference. .

The game was tense, with neither team making any real progress in the 1st quarter. Then, with 9 minutes and 35 seconds until the half, City drove 97 yards into Concord’s end-zone, leading to a 7-0 lead. Concord did manage an intercept with 5 minutes left in the half, however wasn’t able to score. City managed a sack and recovered a fumble at the end of the half, leading to a 7-0 lead at the beginning of the second half.

Concord managed to tie the game up in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run, despite a controversial pass interference call that kept the drive alive.

City then managed a second touchdown and conversion with a minute and 53 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, bringing the score to a nail-biting 14-7 at the end of the 3rd.

With 7 minutes left in the game, City managed another touchdown against the Minutemen, bringing the lead to 21-7 Wolves.

City attempted a conversion late in the game with 2 minutes and 14 seconds left, but failed to make it stick. Concord managed to take over, but needed 2 touchdowns to tie the game. In the end, they couldn’t score, leading to a history-making win for Michigan City, the first ever such victory in the 100-plus year history of Michigan City football.
