Boston Middle School 8th Graders Finish 2017 Season Undefeated

The Boston 8th grade football team finished their season UNDEFEATED with seven wins and no losses with a 46 to 0 win versus Kesling under the lights at Kiwanis Field Thursday night. The “Slicer Jug,” a traveling milk jug trophy in honor of Jake West, now resides back at Boston. The Bruins scored on offense, defense, and special teams.

Offensively, the offensive line and ends consisting of Hayden Lowe, Andrew Coates, Riley Attar, Tristen Thompson, Derek Sawyer, Zayne Haddad, and Evan Cizewski were a great asset for the best offensive output of the year, scoring 89 points in their last two games. The scoring was led by Jayden Parkes with a 6-yard touchdown run, a 36-yard touchdown run, and a touchdown on the kickoff team after forcing a fumble, stealing the ball, and running it in for a 20-yard score.

Collin Bergquist added a 7-yard touchdown run and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Even Cizewski. Andrew Coates added a defensive touchdown after recovering a fumble. Finally, Luke Bearickx added a 1-yard touchdown run, and Saul Villanueva added 4 extra-point kicks. Defensively, Jayden Parkes, Collin Bergquist, Hayden Lowe, and Ethan Blanshan each had 3 tackles, with Hayden Lowe forcing a fumble that led to a touchdown. Chase Lewis had an interception to go with his 2 tackles. Brady Bernth and Jaykob Ruiz each had 2 tackles, with Ruiz forcing a fumble and a tackle for loss. Finally, Carson Keene and Orlando Martinez each had kickoff team recoveries.

The Bruins will join Kesling next year as 9th graders playing freshman football. Good luck as Slicers and good job at BMS as Bruins!
