Active in NWI: La Porte County Family YMCA and Elizabeth Downs Help Cary Mosher Get Her Quality of Life Back
Today, we are honored to share a very special story written by one of our Y program participants. We congratulate Cary Mosher on her amazing success and thank her for allowing us to be a part of her journey!
Cyclists are nearly as prominent as runners in NWI. It’s a fun sport that allows participants get to where they need to go quickly without increasing their carbon footprint.
Baby, it’s cold outside. But it doesn’t keep us away. You’ll see people out and about getting their exercise in any way they know how. And that’s great, but there are steps that you can take to make sure that you stay safe in these chilly months.
Transformations are happening in people's lives all the time. Some happen in one big bang, and others happen stretched out over time. For me, many small moments combined to give me my "Aha!" moment.
The gym? It’s not everyone’s idea of fun. There are some people, however, who can spend hours in the gym prancing away on the treadmill and lifting like everyone’s watching, and snaps to them for their motivation and dedication, but not everyone is like that. Some need different types of stimuli to keep our attention and make the workouts not so droll. And did you know that there are so many things that you can do to burn calories that aren’t boring? It’s not a new topic, but let’s face it, when it comes to working out, we tend to forget the variety of options available to us and we end up drawing blanks.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, this segment of Active in NWI will be dedicated to the lovers… of fitness.
Do you like videogames? Do you like working out? You can combine the two, you know. We are plugged in to all of these electronics these days, and many of us would rather play on our Wii than play in the yard.
It’s flippin’ cold so no workout outside. You could head to the gym, but something s might be closed due to the weather. So you’re staying home.
2016 is nearly here. This is the time when everyone will make their New Year's resolutions and (hopefully) stick to them.
This time of year brings out the best in people. The giving nature comes out and people buy gifts, throw parties, and support charities. There isn’t always time or money left over to do the rest of the things that you want. This includes staying active.
