La Porte Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Adam Conn has been appointed as the Medical Director of its Wound Care services. Wound Care services combines the expertise of specialized wound care providers and nurses with the resources of an advanced medical procedures to expedite healing for wounds. The La Porte Hospital’s Wound Care service opened in 2018 and is located on the first floor of the hospital at 1007 Lincolnway in La Porte.

A graduate of the University of Louisville, a board certified general surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Conn will work closely with medical staff and other clinicians to oversee patient care and wound treatments. The medical professionals in the wound center closely evaluate patients to determine what medical conditions that might be blocking the natural healing process while expediting recovery.

“We have assembled an experienced and an exceptionally compassionate team of physicians and staff to care for community members suffering from hard to heal wounds. Dr. Conn’s years of experience in an advanced wound care center will provide strong leadership to our program and position it for expansion when our new hospital opens in 2020.” said Ashley Dickinson, CEO at La Porte Hospital. Dr. Conn was most recently part of the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center at Porter Regional Hospital.

“I have found wound care to be both interesting and rewarding. Unlike normal wounds that your body can heal, chronic or traumatic open wounds show no significant signs of healing and require a comprehensive treatment protocol “, Dr. Conn said. “I enjoy having a long term relationship with our patients and seeing them through to a much healthier lifestyle than they had prior to healing their wound.”

La Porte Hospital Wound Care Center professionals treat many different types of wounds, including: diabetic wounds, arterial ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, trauma wounds/crush injuries, compromised skin grafts and flaps, complex soft tissue wounds, osteomyelitis (bone infection), problem surgical wounds, soft tissue infections, and gangrene.
