A Master Gardener training program will be offered in La Porte County beginning Thursday, September 6, 2018, and will continue until December 6 on Thursday evenings from 6- 9 p.m. CST! The classes will be held at the Purdue Extension – La Porte County Office.
The purpose of the Purdue Master Gardener Program is to teach people more about growing plants and to more effectively share plant-related information with others.
Trained and certified volunteers will provide specific information and technical assistance in the areas of gardening and home horticulture!
To become a Purdue Master Gardener, those interested are asked to complete an application form and return it to the La Porte County Extension Office by Friday, August 17th (enrollment is limited). After being accepted for training, one must attend a series of weekly 3-hour classes. Upon completing the required training and passing the exam with 70% success, one achieves the rank of Master Gardener Intern. Master Gardener Interns are then required to volunteer for a minimum of 35 hours to be certified as a Purdue Master Gardener!
