ArcelorMittal
The year 2018 marks the 12th anniversary of ArcelorMittal, but our history in the state of Indiana goes back as many as 115 years.

Today, ArcelorMittal, the world's leading steel and mining company, has four locations in the region: two integrated steelmaking facilities, ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor and ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor; a joint venture finishing facility between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metals Corp, I/N Tek and I/N Kote; and a leading global research center in East Chicago.

Together, these four locations employ nearly 10,000 hardworking men and women, accounting for roughly half of ArcelorMittal's presence in the United States. ArcelorMittal contributes significantly to the regional and state economies and invests meaningfully in the communities where we operate. ArcelorMittal also produces a product that is critical to this region and the state of Indiana, which is recognized as the #1 steel producing state in America. From bridges and cars to washing machines and buildings, steel is the heart of NWI and the product of our future.

We strive to be a trusted user of land, air and water, all essential resources to our communities, ecosystem and our business. We seek to protect and improve the environment through environmental compliance and conservation investments.

Saving enough energy each year to power 19,000 homes
Steelmaking is an energy intensive industry. We aim to be a responsible energy user. We find and implement ongoing, innovative solutions to increase the sustainability of our operations, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment, all while saving costs.
